Joe Sola lives and works in Los Angeles. He teaches video at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. His work has been exhibited around the world, including the Havana Biennial, In Site San Diego 2000, Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Museum of Image and Sound, São Paulo. Sola has received numerous prizes, from the Jerome Foundation and others.
Darrin Martin's work examines the body's relationship to urban architecture, interactive technologies, and domestic and institutional spaces. He has exhibited his installations at venues such as the Kitchen in NYC and WRO Media Arts Biennial. His videos and performances have been exhibited at Dia Center for the Arts, New York Video Festival, Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Arts, Madrid Museum of Contemporary Art, and EMAF. In New York, Martin co-founded Art in General's monthly screening series and co-programmed the weekly Video Lounge at the Knitting Factory with Joanna Spitzner.
Stefan St. Laurent's work has been screened at the Lux Centre for Film, Video and Digital Arts, WRO Media Arts Biennial, the CNP in Paris, YYZ Artists' Outlet in Toronto, and the Edsvik Konst och Kultur, in Sollentuna, Sweden. He's curated numerous programs in Canada, and is co-director of Galerie 101 in Ottawa.
James Hegge lives and works in Brooklyn. He's received numerous awards and has recently exhibited his work at City Gallery, LA; Millenium Film Workshop, NYC, and Whatcom Museum, Bellingham, Washington. He participated in the exhibitions "clinchclutchflinch" at Paul Rogers/9W, NYC; "Brooklyn!" at Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art, and "Spunky" at Exit Art, NYC.
Musician, writer, curator, and artist, Nelson Henricks lives and works in Montreal. Henricks is best known for his videos, which have been presented around the world and most recently at the MOMA in the series VIDEO VIEWPOINTS. His writing has been published in reviews such as FUSE, PUBLIC, and COIL, as well as the anthologies SO, TO SPEAK and "LUX: A Decade of Artists' Film & Video." Henricks co-edited a collection of artists' scenarios entitled "By the Skin of Their Tongues: Artist Video-Scripts" with Steve Reinke. PLANETARIUM is distributed by Heure Exquise!
Maïa Cybelle Carpenter was Program Coordinator of MIX NYC and curates the ongoing—and widely screened—series "Manipulation." She's currently working on a short film about consumption and libidinal economy. She is also curating a number of film and video programs for queer film festivals and was a judge for the Women In The Director's Chair 20th Anniversary Film Festival.
Thanks to a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation, Leighton Pierce is currently working on a long-form project that continues his 20-year exploration of sound, time, and perception in film and video. He also teaches film and video production in the Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature at the University of Iowa. WOOD received awards at the San Francisco International Film Festival 2000, Big Muddy 2000, Black Maria 2000, and the Athens International Film Festival.
Cheryl Cambras recently founded C3 Pictures, a video production company specialized in documentaries, in Iowa City. Her films and videos have been screened internationally.
Jasmine Moorhead lives in Brooklyn. Her work often juxtaposes the organic with the man-made, as she explores the ways these elements come together (and don't come together). She feels video is the perfect medium to grasp that relationship as it exists in art and life. With Rebekah Rutkoff she co-curates the monthly screening series Jaraf in NYC.
Torsten Z. Burns's work has been selected in numerous festivals. In 2000-2001, his videos have screened at the Centre for Contemporary Images in Geneva, Chicago Filmmakers, Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, Art 32 Basel, Pandæmonium, Cinematexas, Madrid Museum of Contemporary Art, New York Video Festival, EMAF, Videoex, Thaw, Athens International Film Festival, Videoformes, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. His recent work has been exhibited at the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and the Richard Levy Gallery. His videos are distributed by Video Data Bank.
Steve Reinke, a writer and artist, is renowned for his five-hour video project THE HUNDRED VIDEOS, completed in 1996. From his debut, he exhibited his work in numerous one-man and group shows, and his videos have been selected in festivals worldwide. His work has been presented at the MOMA, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Power Plant in Toronto. He co-edited "By the Skin of Their Tongues: Artist Video-Scripts" (1997) and "LUX: A Decade of Artists' Film & Video" (2000). He's taught at the California Institute of the Arts, and is currently teaching at the University of Illinois in Chicago. SAD DISCO FANTASIA is distributed by Argos Arts.
Emily Vey Duke & Cooper Battersby have collaborated artistically for the past six years. They live and work in Vancouver. Their videos have been screened in Canada, the USA, and Europe. BEING FUCKED UP is distributed by Argos Arts.
Rebekah Rutkoff is a photographer and video artist who lives in Brooklyn. With Jasmine Moorhead, she co-curates the screening series Jaraf in NYC.
